We’re building the platform for freelance & agency talent in Africa. Everything we do is talent-focused. Rafiki will always focus on providing value first and foremost to talent in Africa.
We don’t, however, work with everyone. In fact, our application and acceptance process is strict. We are not an open marketplace, and as such, have decided to focus on small-batch specialists of utmost quality.

Referral Programme
Rafiki’s referral program is an easy way for you to earn and for us to ensure we only work with vetted, high-quality startups, businesses, and agencies.
No capacity, no problems.
You’ve been approached by a client, but you don’t have capacity. Refer your client to us, and if the project is accepted, Rafiki will pay you 10%.
How do I refer?
We’ve kept it super simple. Simply introduce the project to us via email. We’ll share the formal referral docs and keep you updated from there.
What about my referred project?
We’ll always do what we can to ensure you have first dibs to work on any future projects a client you refer requests. We’re also happy for the client to request you specifically.

FAQs
We take you through a 3 stage vetting and interview process. Following your application, we may invite you for an interview, assessing skills, experience, and career aspirations. We may also request certain KYC documents. We prioritise skill sets, user experience, and candidate satisfaction to engage high-quality, low-turnover, high-intent talent.
Rafiki has the option for you to work as a Rafiki contractor on Rafiki’s managed agency clients, or for you pitch for Rafiki’s client tenders via the platform. We can help you with positioning, project scoping, competitive fee structuring and provide you with the platform for contracts and payroll.
You share you availability with us, and we match you with the right opportunities, it is totally up to you on how much you want to work. Ultimately, we encourage longer-term, fractional work, and do what we can to drive the right client demand towards relevant talent.
For Rafiki contractors, we provide all contractural and project management support on internal client work. For Rafiki X, we provide the platform to support your project experience. We handle all contracts and payroll throughout the proccess. Rafiki does not take a fee out your project earnings or proposed rates, Rafiki simply charges a service fee to the client to use our platform services.
As much as we would love to accept everyone into our network, it can be competitive and we do hold our standards high. But don’t worry, we constantly review all declined applications on a rolling basis, as and when new project demand comes into the platform. This means there's still a chance we'll reach out to you in a few month's time. We also offer a range of knowledge resources and partnerships with bootcamps and courses for you to progress your career, and we're always happy for you to reach out directly with any suggestions or a more personalised pitch for work.
